YST Para-Sports Event

Wednesday 30th April saw another successful Project Ability event take place at the Plymouth Life Centre. The event was to highlight Para-sports with everything from water polo to indoor rowing taking place. Other activities included boccia, table cricket, new age kurling, indoor kayaking and team building exercises.

The event took place thanks to Project Ability funding granted to Woodlands School from the Youth Sports Trust and the hard work of the local Project Ability Coordinator - Katy Wedgwood.

The indoor rowing was popular as always, with the event trialling the new YST inclusive team rowing format, which saw some great races and excellent teamwork from each of the schools.

VI Rowing in Plymouth

Last Saturday the Plymouth Actionnaire's group from Action for Blind People came down to the Mount Batten Centre in Plymouth to try their hand at gig rowing. Despite the gusting wind and the choppy water, the rain held off and everyone managed to get to grips with their oars and enjoy a row around Cattewater. The Mount Batten Centre also took a lucky few out into Plymouth Sound to experience a blast around on their speedy RIB's.

Dolphin's in Plymouth Sound

While out with a Learn to Row group from Plymouth University one Tuesday night around 7pm we spotted a dolphin swimming at the mouth of the River Plym, not far off the Barbican entrance. We weren't fast enough to get a photo but it looks as though we weren't the first to spot the dolphin this summer. #Plymouth Herald
