Insipred by new years resolutions this is Chistmas payback. A challenge to burn off the calories found in a typical Christmas dinner (approx 1000 Kcals) and if that proves too easy then there are all the naughty extras to burn off such as mince pies and christmas pud. Ho Ho Ho.

In the summer months regattas are held all over the country featuring sprint races from 300-2000m, but during the colder months of the year rowing clubs train for, and race at Head races. These are generally long distance time trials that are over 2km in length. Dart Totnes ARC holds one of the longest head races in the country here in Devon. Summer Sprint Challenge
Spring and Summer are the seasons when rowing clubs hold their regatta's. During June and July rowing clubs in Plymouth, Exeter and Totnes will all run their regattas on the stretch of river outside their clubhouse. The distance each crew races varies from regatta to regatta and depends upon the stretch of river available to the club.
The challenge this term is to see how quickly you can row 1000metres (or 500meters if you are rowing in a fixed seat).
