More than 430 schoolchildren took part in the Plymouth Indoor Rowing Championships on Wednesday 8th Februrary, smashing a number of records at the event at Plymstock School. Organised by the Plymouth School Sports Partnership the event is now in its seventh year.
Participants from schools across Plymouth and the surrounding areas took part in the British Rowing-supported competition. Longcause School again represented themselves well competing in a mainstream event with all their students placing strongly, achieving at least 80% of their Gold Medal Target.
Records were smashed in three of the girls’ events (Years 7, 9, and 11), and one of the boys’ (Year 12 & 13), with Plymstock and Wembury Schools winning the fiercely-contested team events. Results can be found on the British Rowing website and on the Plymouth SSP website.
Those pupils that have managed to gain 85% or more of their Gold Medal Target are eligible to race in the Regional Championships which will be held at UCP Marjons, Plymouth on 6th March.
