On Friday 6th July over 1000 pupils from schools all across the county came together to compete at the Devon Summer School Games at St Luke's Science and Sports College in Exeter. Fifteen sports were on offer at this Level 3 School Games event with a large entry for the indoor rowing competition. The timings of the day allowed for the competition to follow the School Games national competition format. Competitors were able to complete their 1 minute seeding race in the morning with a break for lunch and a chance to take part in the activities at the fete before the serious competition for medals in the afternoon. In addition to Gold, Silver and Bronze in each category there were also medals for those who had demonstrated the Spirit of the Games. The afternoons racing was close and action packed with a lot of vocal support from the competitiors team mates. A special thank you has to go to the young volunteers from Ivybridge Community College who did an outstanding job of helping the event run smoothly.
More pictures of the day and a writeup of the whole event can be found on the Active Devon website HERE and below are the results from the rowing event.
